Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín

Tóibín’s style is like an avocado’s ripeness that I would have missed in this hot and humid weather. I love it!

Brooklyn could have easily become a masterpiece if it weren’t for the annoyingly naive character of Eilen. I often wanted to shake her back to reality, though her lack of experience in general definitely proved her actions and that she needed to see and try it out on her own.

I can’t wait to read another Tóibín!
